On 2nd October, a press release announced a Swedish call for the Academic Boycott of Israel, initiated by the Action group for boycott of Israel at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm. It asks Swedish universities not to participate in research or any other type of cooperation with Israeli academic institutions, and claims the Swedish Government should act for the cessation of EU’s research support to Israel. 218 Swedish people, mainly students and academics have signed this call. The group also demands that KTH cancel its ongoing agreement with Technion. Moreover, the local pro-Israel community has contacted university heads, all of whom have expressed opposition to BDS.
